THE SHARK TRUST

Established in 1997, the Shark Trust promotes the study, management and conservation
of sharks, skates and rays. The Shark Trust is calling for:

  • sustainably managed shark fisheries
  • reduced shark bycatch in other fisheries
  • legal protection for threatened species
  • conservation of breeding and nursery habitats
  • increased research into shark biology and ecology
  • development of national and international management and conservation strategies
  • international conservation and research initiatives, including tag and release programmes
  • increased public awareness of the conservation needs of these vulnerable animals
